Day 3: I used to…

I used to love him. Now, I love her.

I used to have really long straight hair. Now, I rock a really big natural.

I used to care what others thought. Now, I don’t give a shit.

I used to get caught up in the physical. Now, I focus on hearts and minds.

I used to be really impatient. Now, I’m still really impatient.

I used to want 3 kids. Now, I’d be happy with one.

I used to believe I had forever. Now, I know life is a limited time offer.

I used to date a lot of women. Now, I date one woman a lot.

I used to spend a lot of time in church. Now, I spend a lot of time praying.

I used to stay up late partying. Now, I stay up late working.

I used to resent my mother. Now, I see my mother as a present.

I used to be careless with words. Now, I choose my words with care.

I used to socialize a lot. Now, I don’t worry about being social.

I used to have a favorite pair of red boots. Now, I have a favorite pair of red Chucks.

I used to spend a lot of time day dreaming. Now, spend a lot of time planning how to make those dreams reality.

I used to be well known. Now, I’d settle for being known well.

I used to believe you were paid for good work. Now, I know the reward isn’t always monetary.

    This is beautiful.

    I don’t realize that I- and the things around me- changed until waaay after the fact. When I do come to realize, it leaves me bewildered, sad and a little bit empty, honestly.
