No hair?! I don’t care!
I have never been one to fear change. I’d like to believe that I embrace it. If my hair is proof, here is my evidence.
This is how I started 2011. That’s a lot of hair!
I decided to lock my hair again. That got old so…
I cut it!!! And then…
I cut it again!
This is the lowest I’ve ever gone. This cut was met with much trepidation, but it was something I had been thinking of doing since before I locked. Sugar encouraged the cut, which made it that much easier.
My barber didn’t flinch when I asked him to take me all the way down, but he asked several times during the course of the cut:“Is that low enough?” You know how some people are about hair. The buzzing clippers against my head felt wonderful. There was something about the vibrations…
Anyway, I left him that day to have lunch with my best friend from high school and do the mall thang. She pointed out to me that I was getting a lot of eyes. I didn’t notice until I recognized a table full of women discussing my cut. “It’s beautiful,” she stated as I walked by.
I must admit I feel a bit sexier with a low cut. I didn’t anticipate that at all. I suppose I should have, simply because I’ve never been one to associate hair with beauty.
I mean, why should I?

I’ve loved your hair (and you) at every length I’ve seen it, but I’m definitely digging on the low low. Been wondering lately when I’ll next shave mine (or get it low enough to do the antenna bit again).

It looks nice! I had a twa when I first started wearing my hair natural and I’m feeling like that was kinda fun but I want it short when it’s long and long when it’s short..sigh!

I think it’s brave of you to cut it all off! My grandmother would kill me! She says that a lot of black girls don’t have much hair, so because I do, I should cherish it. She doesn’t have to deal with it everyday, though! I also agree that short cuts are sexier, but I’m biased because I tend to go for girls with shorter hair; I enjoy the sort of androgyny of it.
Still, I’ve been wanting a short cut for a while…maybe I’ll do it. It’s only hair, right?!

I think it’s okay to associate hair with beauty. As long as it’s your own standard of beauty and someone else’s. Some people say beauty is in the eyes, or how you carry yourself. Or the greatest comment, is that beauty is skin-deep. I love your cut. Probably even more since I could never pull off something that gorgeous.
Thats a great look – i do like short hair (on other people though), but not sure if it would suit me. My daughter would not be impressed, as she has short hair and would accuse me of copying her….x
