The Skinny 18.08.

I’m grown. Yeah, I have a young face. And yes, I’m small. I could still shop in the kid’s department if I chose to.

But don’t get it twisted. I am GROWN!

Just because I am small doesn’t give you the right to treat me or talk to me like a child.

Please do not make statements about my eating habits. I eat when I’m hungry. A little bit here, a little bit there. I’ve kept myself alive for the last 30+ years eating the same way I do now. I think its working for me.

I’m 4’10″ and my normal weight hovers around 90 pounds. At my heaviest, I weighed 100 pounds and I had the beginning of rolls.

Is it that hard to believe that some people are meant to be small, just like some people are meant to be big?

I don’t have any type of eating disorder. My health isn’t being compromised. And I bear no resemblance to a crackhead…

I don’t want to hear:

“Oooh, girl, I need to feed you.”

“You tried drinking Ensure? That’ll make you gain weight.”

“You’re so small because you don’t eat nothing.”

Why do people think its ok to say those things to small girls? Why is being small such a problem? What if people said those things to the overweight?

“Oooh, girl, I need to stop feeding you.”

“You tried drinking Weight Wtchers? That’ll make you lose weight.”

“You’re so big because you eat everything.”

Ridiculous, right?

Right!

preach! im 5ft 7in and weigh 130lbs. this is not the heaviest ive been. my heaviest was 150 and i still got ‘girl you need to eat.’ im like you. i eat a little here, a little there. i love to eat. i love to cook. i guess people just need to stay out of our pants! (in more ways than one!)

Rotflmfao! Sis I can hear your voice. Hahah and you are right, about everything. But if I heard someone say that to the overweight I won’t lie…I would just die from laughter. Hey, as long you’re healthy no one should really have anything to say. Remember what we all learned in grade school? If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Let’s add a small part in there about whether or not it’s even your business to comment.

People will say anything. I’m average/thick and people comment on my food in take all the time. yes, I’m in training for something, but unless it’s my doctor, nutritionist or trainer I don’t want to hear it. too bad there’s no mute button for humans in real life.

I love it!!! You’re absolutely correct, no one would dare say things like that to an overweight individual, I have no idea what leads society to believe it’s ok to say them to a small individual. Hmmmm….I don’t think I’ll ever know. LOL. Very Valid Post. =)

You gonna get me started on stupid people before I even wake up? How do folks mix up SMALL, and SKINNY? You have perfect curves and are not skinny!

Oh, shit, deja vu, remember when we went through this years ago on your old blog, and it bled into mine? Got me going then, and you did it again. I can pretty much eat anyone under the table, and still I hear, “Girl, you must not eat ANYTHING!”

I’ve read everything that you’ve written. Quite inspiring.

People always got something to say about somebody else, whether it’s weight or actions. Alix, it doesn’t matter what your size is. It doesn’t matter what size I am. People just need to be concerned about their own well-being.

Was just venting about this to my sister, as were all small framed. I always get comments from co-worker mostly about my eating habits, whether I’m eating too much or not eating enough, for their standards. And of course the idiots who insist that I need to gain weight. For what? and for whom? I’m 5’2 and fluctuate between 100-105. My heaviest was 116. And just as you mentioned I got the rolls and a few stretch marks. Not the business. Some people were definitly not meant to be thick. Period.

    Hola, Alix!
I’ve been there, also! Am finally coming into a bit of weight now…in a healthy way, of course, as I just finished fasting!
My thing is the people who use the “You’re way too small” line to reject you. You are attracted to a person or you aren’t. If you aren’t attracted, you probably wouldn’t be attracted if I gained 5 more pounds, so simply be brave enough to say, “I just don’t feel an attraction.” It’s as easy as that!

No reason. No rime. No judgment. It is what it is as they say!

The people that say this to me are rarely romantic interests. It’s usually someone’s mama, or auntie…Some older southern woman.
